Outcomes
You will be able to:
- explore how the micro:bit can be used to support an engaging key stage 3 curriculum
- understand how Microsoft Block Editor can be used to control electronic inputs and outputs
- create prototype circuits and a motorised buggy using the micro:bit
- discover the free teaching resources available for the micro:bit
Content includes:
The micro:bit is one of the biggest education projects in the past 30 years. Join us and explore how LEDs, buzzers, motors and sensors can be used to create programmable projects, perfect for key stage 3.
- programming the micro:bit, using the free Microsoft Block Editor
- connecting output components to the micro:bit (LEDs, buzzers, servos)
- connecting input components to the micro:bit (Light dependent resistor, variable resistor, movement sensor)
- creating a motorised buggy with the Kitronik Motor Board
- creating a prototyped circuits with the Kitronik Prototyping System
- a tour of the free teaching resources available and opportunity to try them for yourself
- exploration of how the micro:bit can be used in preparation for Design and Technology GCSE
- managing the use of micro:bit in the classroom.
- Sessions will be hands-on, and each participant will receive a free Kitronik Motor Board, Kitronik Prototyping System and lots of project ideas to take away.
