Stretch and Challenge Wall

I love the way Sian Castleton, and her colleagues Jayne Sheeran and Louise Machin, from Philip Morant School in Colchester, have used my #ThinkDo activity cards and TechDoodles as part of their stretch and challenge wall.

The idea came about as part of a ‘teacher buddying’ process set up by the school. This involves all staff having a mentor to help and support an area the teacher wants to develop over the year. Sian wanted to focus on differentiation and Louise wanted to look at stretch and challenge and after discussions with David Nash, the teacher buddy mentor, as well as Jayne Sheeran, another member of the team, it was decided this would be a good joint project. Jayne collected resources from my website, printed them off and laminated them, whilst Sian adapted some button challenge cards from a resource she found on one of the Facebook groups and the display was created.

Students, Sophia Grice, Erin Nuttall and Isobel Cryne, from the ‘In Stitches’ club also helped with the display.

The aim of the wall is for students to be able to participate in challenges throughout lessons as part of extension activities that stretch and challenge.

Sian and the team are also hoping to spread this good practice throughout the department using James Dyson's challenge cards which can be downloaded for free from the James Dyson foundation website.
