What is a Roadshow?

Our Roadshows are our largest and most popular events. They travel around the country with a different focus each year. They are designed for departments with more limited budgets & there are two types; the standard D&T Roadshow which is our lowest cost course, as well as the D&T Roadshow Plus which is our mid price range course. Although these courses are designed to suit a more limited budget both types of courses still offer a high quality CPD experience.

The D&T Roadshow is our largest event and is more of a mini conference than a course with a day packed full of hands on practical activities. The aim is to bring D&T teachers together to celebrate D&T with the chance to learn, play and network at the same time.

  • The D&T Roadshow originally started out with just a textiles focus and this event still continues but a second Roadshow now also takes place that focuses on all D&T materials (which also includes textiles!). It’s relevant for delegates to attend both events, as whilst there might be some cross over, the overall content is different.
  • The day has an informal relaxed atmosphere with a ‘light touch’ approach that focuses on hands on activities and teaching theory through practical.
  • The days are led by Paul and Julie Boyd who between them have extensive experience in education and in industry.
  • As well as delegates taking part in practical activities there is also a small display of ideas & inspiration.

  • The course travels around the country with new content for each academic year. The course is usually on a Saturday because of the need to access several D&T spaces to accommodate the number of delegates (some venues can hold over 30 delegates).
  • All D&T Roadshows include materials to carry out the practical activities as well as supporting electronic resources. There are also prizes, small giveaways & goodie bags to take home.
  • Although there may be some cross overs between the D&T Roadshow and the D&T Roadshow Plus the content is different and it's relevant for delegates to attend both types of event.
  • Delegates attending a D&T Roadshow get a free Iso-Cube 3D drawing tool sponsored by Mindsets, 50 #ThinkDo cards, materials to support the activities and much more.

Textiles Teacher Roadshow 2 copy 2

This is our newer Roadshow format which is like the standard D&T Roadshow but with ‘more’ hence the name.

  •  A more formal approach with more of a focus on links to pedagogy, more of a 'heavier touch’, and more detailed content than the standard Roadshow.
  • Like the standard D&T Roadshow, the day includes practical activities but references to teaching and learning are more detailed and focused.
  • The events are led by Paul and Julie Boyd who between them have extensive experience in education and in industry.
  • A lower number of delegates allows for more of a personal touch. This type of Roadshow also travels the country with new content each academic year.
  • The day includes materials to carry out the practical activities as well as supporting electronic resources. In addition every delegate receives a giveaway relevant to the course content e.g. a piece of equipment linked to one of the activities or a materials sample pack.
  • Although there may be some cross overs between the D&T Roadshow and the D&T Roadshow Plus the content will be different and it is relevant for delegates to attend both types of event.
