This course is run by Julie Boyd

  • A curriculum that raises the profile of your department & reinvigorates your teaching
  • Tips on leading a textiles department, whether you are a one person department, or leading a team
  • Ideas on how to create a buzz about textiles & what you do
  • Up to date information on the textiles industry and careers in textiles
  • How to ensure textiles continues to play a major role at KS3, 4 & 5 with the current curriculum changes
  • Reviewing your curriculum and planning ways to develop the subject in the future
  • Ideas on how you can challenge perceptions and stereotypes about what textiles is
  • Developing a 21st Century curriculum that includes smart and modern materials
  • Retaining the unique identity of textiles within the broader content of the D&T GCSE 2017
  • Project ideas that engage both boys & girls and educate others as to what textiles is
  • Tips, ideas & projects that maximise progression
  • Creating good learning habits as a basis for GCSE (including using Bloom’s Taxonomy effectively) 
  • Tried & tested tips & strategies that engage learners in controlled assessment including boys, G&T & borderline students
  • Focus on key developmental areas identified by Ofsted e.g. assessment without levels, increasing creativity, higher level thinking skills
  • Relevant to KS3, 4 and 5 and will provide you with resources and ideas that will impact on teaching and learning in your classroom immediately.
