An Introduction to E-Textiles For Beginners

- All you need to know to introduce basic e–textiles components into your schemes of work at KS3, KS4 (& possibly KS5)
- This course is ideal for beginners or those who are a little nervous about using e-textiles. No previous experience needed.
- This course looks in detail at how to use non programmable e-textiles components and a range of samples will be produced.
- Easy e-textiles - using off the shelf modules that require no making or knowledge of electronics
- Understanding basic electronics used as part of the curriculum at KS3 and for the core content of the GCSE.
- Creating your own e-textiles circuits using conductive thread, LEDs & power sources. You will produce a range samples to take away with you consisting of basic & more complex circuits e.g. using different LEDs & power sources, adding switches
- Project ideas for teaching e-textiles
- Tips & strategies on teaching e-textiles
- A short demonstration of programmable e-textiles to help you understand the wider context of e-textiles and electronics in the KS3 and 4 curriculum. This will also help you plan where you want to take e-textiles in your school in the longer term. Note this is a short demonstration of using micro controllers in textiles and delegates will not learn how to programme a microcontroller in the time available.
