Getting ready for Christmas

DSC02722 _Snapseed

Apologies for the lack of blog over the last couple of weeks. We moved house on 5th December and it has been chaos ever since! It has taken a while to get the internet sorted out but things are up and running now so my blogs will be resuming.

In the January edition of Sewing World which came out at the beginning of this week there is an article I have written on the use of high tech materials and components in textiles based projects. This is a series of articles running each month until June and if you are interested in new developments in textiles materials and how they might be used in projects you can make then this series might be worth a look. The first project is an insulated lunch bag that uses a high tech silver backed insulating material similar to the one used in bags in the shops. To compliment the article there will also be a one day workshop making the bag at the venue I use in Nottingham. For more details on the workshop visit the workshops page

For those of you that are textiles teachers there is also a teaching resource on Modern, Smart & Electronic Textiles which includes a scheme of work that accompanies this project. This resource also has a range other resources on high tech materials and components. You can find more information about this resource by clicking here

As it is so close to Christmas here are a few ideas for last minute presents, making your own decorations and ideas of things to do with the kids in the exciting build up to the big day.
