Grab Your Fifteen Minutes of Fame!

Last week I talked about the revival of design and make skills. It seems that the BBC are also taking this seriously so if you have ever fancied being on the t.v. now might be your chance!

BBC 1 are looking for amateur crafters from any discipline to showcase their work and skills on their new show ‘Paul Martin’s Handmade Revolution’. BBC 2 are also looking for skilled crafts people who will compete in challenges similar to the BBC’s ‘Great British Bake Off’ show. Both shows are being filmed over the summer and applicants must be amateurs and not get their main income from the sale of their work. More information can be found at http://www.loveproductions.co.uk/sewing and http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/shows/beonashow/handmade_revolution.

Another, more low key, way to get your work viewed by people is to get involved in ’30 Days of Creativity’ which is a global social initiative that encourages people to create something every day for the 30 days in June and then to share the products online. This actually started on 1st June so depending on when you are reading this you might have a bit of backtracking to do! Visit the website even if you aren’t making something every day to see what other people have been up to http://30daysofcreativity.com/ .

All in all, this all strengthens the design and make community and takes it to a new level.
