The Denim Duck blog is back!

It has been some time since my last blog so apologies for this. I have been updating and relaunching my websites and this has taken me more time than expected. There are still a few bits and pieces left to do but the new sites are up and running now so hopefully things will return to normal. My website addresses are the same but if you have any saved RSS feeds or other links you may need to resave them from the new sites.

Visit the Pedestrian Gallery 'Secret Postcard' exhibition in Leicester.

Visit the Pedestrian Gallery in Leicester to see 2 pieces of my work in the 'Secret Postcard' exhibition. The only problem is you won't be able to tell which bits are mine as the name of the artist who made each piece of work is only revealed when it has been purchased - that's the secret! The image at the top of the blog and the one on the right might give you some clues on the type of work I have entered! The postcard sized pieces of work have been donated by nearly 200 artists and all are for sale at £20 with the proceeds going to the gallery to fund the work they do to encourage young people and others to engage wit art. The exhibition is on from 5th to 15th September (9.30-5pm weekdays, 8th Sept 10-1pm, 15th Sept 12-5pm). For more information visit

Ever fancied seeing your design ideas made into a pattern?

If  you are into retro and vintage designing visit Eliza M's Vintage Sewing blog as she is holding a dress pattern design competition where the winner will get their design turned into a graded pattern as part of her new range for Spring/Summer 2013. You might want to check on the closing date with her as I can't see any reference to this on the website.

The Big Knit

Every year Innocent (the company who make the fruit juices and smoothies) ask knitters to make woolly hats to be sold on their drinks bottles. Every bottle sold raises 25p for Age UK with over a million pounds being raised since the project started 9 years ago. There is a pattern on the website along with examples and the sky is the limit for your design ideas and creativity. The deadline for hats is 1st October and they will be on sale at the end of November in Sainsburys. Visit for more details.
