Ella Robinson

Ella’s degree was in textiles with a focus on combining textiles and other materials. Below are some of her pieces of work that combine found wood and embroidery.

One of the interesting things about Ella’s work is that the back is left unfinished which emphasises the contrast between the textiles decoration and the wooden surface.

Take a look at the work of Ali Ferguson who layers fabrics and objects onto wood and then stitches the wood together to make a patchwork type effect.

Practical activities and ideas are provided as a starting point only. Students should use these as inspiration as part of an iterative design process developing the idea further themselves. Credit should be given to the original source where appropriate.
